Swimming NSW will host a Youth Leadership Camp at Vision Valley in Arcadia, Sydney from January 14th to 16th, 2023.
Places are limited to 50 participants, and we would love to see swimmers from all over NSW attend, particularly from regional areas.
The camp is suitable for current or aspiring club captains, school captains, and other motivated and forward thinking young people with great ideas on how to make swimming the best sport it can be!
The camp's activities focus on building leadership skills. There will be no actual swimming involved. The type of activities include fun group bonding sessions like problem solving, raft making, high ropes, canoeing etc (all to be confirmed closer to the time). We will also run educational sessions covering topics such as Swim Confident (the new positive body image program being rolled out by SNSW), time management, social activity organisation, Take Your Marks and more.
A $100 contribution is required to attend the camp, which Swimming NSW will ask your swimming club to contribute (max two participants per club). Our hope is that clubs will directly benefit from the learnings participants bring home.
Participants will need to arrange transport to and from the venue.
The camp starts at lunchtime Saturday 14th and finishes at lunchtime Monday 16th January.
To be one of the 50 participants, nominate by Wednesday, 12 October.

Read about past camps our Youth Advisory Panel has hosted for young leaders in swimming.
The role of the Swimming NSW Youth Advisory Panel is to discuss current issues related to swimming, and to develop ideas on how to improve the current state of swimming in NSW. The Swimming NSW Board and staff are committed to implementing the best ideas generated by this panel.
The YAP meets regularly and with the addition of regionally based members, these meetings will include teleconference style.
At YAP meetings, panel members have focused on planning events that will engage swimmers aged 12-18. Event themes, locations, formats and bookings have been completely driven by our panel.
