Emilee is a proud member of the CVSA, Novocastrian Swimming Club, and trains under the expert guidance of Coach Ben Fricker. Her journey to excellence hasn't been without its challenges, as she belongs to the Para Development Squad. However, Emilee embraces these challenges with open arms, always striving to improve her technique and unlock her full potential with advice from a range of coaches.
When asked about her aspirations within the next 12 months, Emilee's eyes sparkle with determination as she shares her dream of meeting the qualifying times and earning a spot on the prestigious Para Flippers National Development Squad. With her strongest and favourite stroke being freestyle, Emilee draws inspiration from her swimming idol, Ellie Cole, whom she looks up to both in and out of the pool.
Beyond the thrill of competition and the desire to excel, Emilee treasures the friendships she forms with her fellow swimmers. She remarks, "I love that the swimmers I compete against have also become some of my best friends." It is this sense of camaraderie that adds an extra layer of joy to her swimming journey.
One of Emilee's most cherished swimming memories is her selection for the Para Futures Squad and the unforgettable training camp at the AIS. It was a moment that reinforced her passion for the sport and motivated her to keep pushing the boundaries of her abilities.
To prepare for meets and competitions, Emilee shares a heartwarming ritual. Before diving into the pool, she exchanges a fist pump with her mum or dad and utters the saying, "Leave it in the pool." This simple gesture fuels her focus and determination, allowing her to give her all in every race.
While Emilee's dedication to swimming is evident, she also knows the importance of balance. When she's not in the pool or at school, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. Emilee humorously exclaims, "SLEEP, EAT, SCHOOL, REPEAT!!!" These moments of downtime allow her to recharge and stay motivated for the challenges that lie ahead.
