The Swimming NSW Board is excited to announce the appointment of Kirsten Thomson OLY as its new Chief Executive Officer.  Ms Thomson replaces long term CEO, Mark Heathcote who announced his resignation in early December 2022.

Prior to her appointment to this role, Ms Thomson held the role of Director Corporate Services & Communications at the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) and was formerly the Director Of Communications for the Office of Sport NSW.

Swimming NSW President, Chris Fydler OAM said, “As an Olympic and World Swimming Championship silver medallist, Kirsten has an excellent understanding of our sport at all levels and will therefore hit the ground running.  Her professional experience in areas of elite sport and athlete and coach pathways, combined with communications and commercial experience provide a unique combination skills that will help SNSW achieve its strategic goals.”

Ms Thomson commented, “I am extremely excited about being appointed to lead this fantastic organisation. As a passionate NSW swimmer and sports administrator, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the organisation and help it achieve its strategic goals of being the number swimming state in Australia in both participation and performance.”

Kirsten will commence her role from mid-March 2023.
