Government Grants and Funding

Swimmers waiting at the starting blocks at NSW State Open

Your club could be eligible for a range of state and federal government grants and funding opportunities to assist with the costs of new and improved infrastructure, the development and delivery of sport programs, and purchasing equipment.

We regularly notify clubs of these opportunities. We also maintain a list of current opportunities here. Take a look at our list below to see what is available to help your club with vital funding assistance right now.

  • Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program
  • Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) provided at a reduced cost

The Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program allocates $4 million over four years to assist sporting clubs across NSW in the purchase and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

An AED is a life saving device which delivers a controlled shock to an individual experiencing cardiac arrest, increasing their chances of survival.

The Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program provides NSW sports clubs and councils the opportunity to acquire an AED package for their club or sports facility at a reduced cost.

    An AED package will include:

    • An AED
    • AED familiarisation instruction (within 28 days of delivery)
    • A minimum of six years of essential AED maintenance

Applications close at 5 pm, Wednesday 8 April 2020. For more information and to apply, click here.

  • ASF Sport Recovery Grants
  • Australian Sports Foundation grants to help with disaster recovery

Has your club been affected by the recent bushfires? You may be entitled to a grant from the Australian Sports Foundation to help with the cost of replacing equipment and uniforms, and rebuilding facilities.

Disaster research has shown that communities that come together after a natural disaster heal and recover faster. Grassroots sports clubs play a vital role in bringing people together.

The Australian Sports Foundation, an alliance with the Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia and Commonwealth Games Australia, is raising funds to help aid the long and daunting task of rebuilding after this summer's natural disaster.

All funds raised will be granted out to affected sports clubs. If your club has been affected, you can complete the 'in need of help' form at the bottom of this page to be notified when grant applications open.
