In an exciting development, Swimming NSW is pleased to reveal Wagga Wagga as a host location for the highly anticipated 2024 Country Regional Championships. Following the Swimming NSW selection process the outstanding Oasis Aquatic Centre venue has been chosen to showcase the best of regional swimming talent.
Wagga Wagga Swimming club have also been selected to present the event, which provides a platform for upcoming country swimmers to compete against each other in various parts of regional NSW. The championships are scheduled to take place on the 20th & 21st January 2024.
The NSW Country Regional Meets not only serve as a vital opportunity for athletes to showcase their skills but also act as a pathway to qualify for the prestigious 2024 NSW Country Championships 16 – 18th February 2024.
Swimming NSW Chief Executive Officer Kirsten Thomson, emphasized the significance of the partnership between Wagga Wagga City Council and Swimming NSW in hosting these events:
"The involvement of Wagga Wagga’s council, in conjunction with Wagga Wagga Swim Club will ensure the event is supremely executed and a very exciting meet. We anticipate hundreds of athletes and their families making the trip, fostering a strong pool of competition and presenting excellent tourism opportunities for visitors to explore the unique offerings of Wagga Wagga and surrounds."
In the spirit of the championships, we invite competitive swimmers and their families to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Wagga Wagga to experience not only top-tier aquatic facilities but also the charm and attractions that the city and surrounding region have to offer.
Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Councillor Dallas Tout, expressed his delight at the announcement.
"We welcome all swimming competitors along with their families to the region to enjoy not only the fantastic Oasis Aquatic Centre but also everything that the region has to offer,” Cr Tout said.
“We thank Swimming NSW for choosing Wagga Wagga to host this exciting event and look forward to working with them for successful outcomes."
