The Swimming NSW Board is confirming today that Mark Heathcote has advised the Board he will be stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer in late January 2023.

Swimming NSW President Chris Fydler OAM extended his thanks to Mark for his nearly two decades of service to Swimming, including over 13 years as CEO.

“Mark has accepted another role which is a great opportunity for him and after 17 years with our organisation leaves us with an amazing legacy. Mark has worked tirelessly for Swimming NSW and has consistently delivered excellent results and helped us realise many of our strategic objectives”

Mark guided Swimming NSW through a difficult two years of the COVID-19 pandemic in addition to natural disasters impacting many facilities and members and we have emerged from that period in a strong financial position and double-digit membership growth.

“With the recent release of the new Swimming NSW Strategic Plan; ‘Many Dreams One Passion’, Mark has built an excellent platform for us to build upon with a great team and we remain excited about what we can achieve in the future as we head into a home Commonwealth and Olympic Games” Chris said.

Mark stated that he has enjoyed his time with Swimming NSW immensely but felt now was the right time for him to take on a fresh challenge and for Swimming NSW to find a new leader.

“I will always love the sport of swimming as it has given me so much, and I’m sure I will miss it and all the wonderful people that I have met over my time with Swimming NSW but I’m excited about taking on a new opportunity”.

“I want to extend my thanks to the Board for their support and the wonderful team at Swimming NSW for all their work, all the Coaches, Technical Officials, and volunteers, their passion for swimming is what makes the sport so great.”
