‘Mighty Blues’ to watch in Trinbago

Our own ‘Mighty Blues’ Samuel Higgs (Warringah Aquatic Swim Club) and Lillie McPherson (Manly Swimming Club) are set to make a splash this weekend in Trinbago.

Higgs and McPherson are part of a 12-strong contingent of swimmers competing at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games to be held at the National Aquatic Centre, Couva (Trinbago), 6-9 August 2023.

Both swimmers are coming off the back of successful runs at the recent National Age Championships, where McPherson took home five medals and Higgs won four medals.

At the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games, they will race in the following events:

  • Lillie McPherson (Manly Swimming Club): 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, mixed 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Team 1, 4 x 100m Medley Relay Team 1, 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay Team 1.
  • Samuel Higgs (Warringah Aquatic Swim) – 50m Butterfly, 200m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley, 400m Individual Medley, mixed 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Team 1, 4 x 100m Medley Relay Team 1.

Higgs’ coach, Cameron Gledhill, will also be travelling as one of two team coaches, alongside Kelly Stubbins.

We wish both swimmers the very best of luck and look forward to cheering them on from afar.
