Swimming NSW is delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Levy OAM to the Swimming NSW Board.

Levy is one of Australia’s most successful and celebrated athletes, with a professional global sporting career that spans 20 years and includes five Paralympic Games (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, & 2021). His achievements in the pool include three Paralympic gold medals, one silver and six bronze, a Commonwealth Games gold medal, multiple world championship medals, a world record, and Paralympic Swimmer of the Year 2018.

His professional experience is no less impressive. Since 2017, Levy has held board positions with Blind Sports Australia, Ability Options, Rainbow Club Australia, and Volunteers to Assist Children with Disabilities, and has been an advisor on the International Paralympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Federation. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, holds an MBA in Leadership and Innovation from Canberra University, and is a recipient of the Order of Australia for Services to Sport (2014).

Swimming NSW President, Chris Fydler OAM, applauded Levy’s dedication to the sport, both in and out of the pool, and welcomed his appointment as a positive step in the future of the organisation and swimming in NSW.

“On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to welcome Matt to the SNSW Board. Matt brings a wealth of experience as both one of Australia’s greatest Paralympic athletes as well as his outstanding career and qualifications outside of the pool. Matt is a passionate advocate for Paralympic athletes and has dedicated considerable time to supporting the next generation of Australians,” said Mr Fydler.

“I look forward to working with Matt as we continue to build for the future. SNSW has entered an exciting phase and I am sure Matt will play an integral role in ensuring we deliver on our Strategic Plan.”
