Australian Open Championships: Day 4 Wrap

Day 4 belonged to our Para swimmers with World Records and NSW swimmers placed on the Australian Para Swimming Team for the Para Swimming World Championships to be held in Manchester, UK in July/August. Along the way they also won 3 GOLD, 2 SILVER & 2 BRONZE medals and Timothy Hodge breaking his own SM9 200m IM record…twice in one day!

Here are the highlights:

  • Timothy Hodge (ACU Blacktown) – Coach Misha Payne – GOLD – 200m IM Multi-Class
    • Tim broke his own record in the heats swimming 2:12.97 then swam 2:12.06 in the final…eclipsing 1.21 secs…his focus in the morning, as described by his coach was to focus on the skills…great job Tim and coach Misha!
    • Tim also backed up to win GOLD in the 100m Butterfly Multi-Class in a time of 0:59.69…first time under the minute!
  • Taylor Corry (KPD) – Coach Simon Watkins – GOLD 100m Butterfly Multi-Class

The Australian Para Swimming Team was also announced last night with the following swimmers and coaches gaining selection…CONGRATULATIONS to both swimmers and coaches…GO THE MIGHTY BLUES!
