Australian Age Championships: Day 8 Wrap

Day 8: Another Golden Day for the Mighty Blues!

Another day on the Gold Coast saw some fantastic performances by our Mighty Blues swimmers. A stella night bought another 9 Gold, 6 Silver and 7 Bronze medals.

Leading the night was Lukas Dunn (Knox Pymble – Coach Steve Goodier) winning the Boys 14yrs 100m Freestyle in 52.55.

We didn’t have to wait long to strike Gold again with Manly swimmer Lillie Mcpherson (Coach Justin Rothwell) putting in a superb performance in winning the 15yrs 200m freestyle in a new PB of 2:00.45…that is the sweep for Lillie winning the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle events…all in new PB’s!

The Carlile machine cranked up with the next 2 Golds…Olivia Wunsch claiming the Girls 17yrs 100m Freestyle in a fine swim of 53.99. Kaitlin Barry took out the Girls 13yrs 200m IM in 2:23.39…both swims put the smile on the face of their coach Michaela Pattinson…great job!

Cash Milner (KPD – Coach Michael Tattoli) won the Boys 16yrs 50m Butterfly in a new PM of 24.73. In another great performance Heidi Shumack (SOPAC – Coach Ryan Frost) won the Girls 14yrs 200 IM in 2:18.89.

Harrison Tancred (Aquablitz – Coach Alyce Wierzbicki) won the Boys 15yrs 200 IM in a great time of 2:08.43…that is Harrison’s second gold for the meet!

Sienna Toohey (Albury – Coach Wayne Gould) swam brilliantly to win the Girls 15yrs 100m Breaststroke in a new PB of 1:07.72…Sienna has won both the 50m & 100m Breaststroke!

Well, the last swim of the night certainly put a smile on my face not to mention Coach Bec Wheatley’s (Cranbrook)…her swimmer Marcus Da Silva took out the Boys 17yrs 200m Freestyle in a winning time of 1:48.45…Marcus dropped 1.97 secs off his previous best time with splits of 25.16/27.18/28.04/28.07…awesome swim!
