
2025 Australian WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Team Trials - Adelaide 9-14 June
Day 6:
The last night of finals saw the announcement of the 2025 Australian World Championship Team with five NSW pool swimmers and one Open Water swimmer making the team.
Firstly, to last night’s finals where we witnessed a tie for second in the opening event the Women’s 50m Freestyle. Olivia Wunsch (Carlile – Coach Chris Nesbit) swam a time of 24.70 to tie for second place with Alexandra Perkins (USCS)…who gets the swim…we will leave it to team management. It was great to see Olivia rise to the occasion and hopefully get another swim at the Championships. Great job Olivia and Chris.
In a hotly contested Men’s 400m IM Se-Bom Lee (SOPAC - Coach Adam Kable - NSWIS HUB) put in a great swim to place 3rd in 4:18.37 whilst Sam Higgs (Warringah – Coach Angelo Basalo) placed 6th in 4:21.13 (PB).
In the Women’s 400 IM Kayla Hardy (Cruiz – Coach Shannon Rollason – ACT Performance Centre) placed 4th in a great PB of 4:42.32 with Lexi Harrison (Manly – Coach Justin Rothwell) came in 6th place with a time of 4:51.43.
The Men’s 50m Butterfly saw William Yang (Sydney University - Coach Adam Kable - NSWIS HUB) place 5th in 23.59.
The final event was the Women’s 1500m Freestyle where Tayla Martin (Carlile – Coach Chris Nesbit) placed 6th in the timed final in 16:56.66. Placing 8th was Isobel Mulcahy (Carlile – Coach Michaela Pattinson) in 17:20.28.
