Selection criteria for 2023 Australian Age Championships state relays

State relays at the 2023 Australian Age Championships are coming! This means it's time to select the mightiest 'Mighty Blues' to represent NSW. 

Here's what you need to know and how our NSW panel will select relay swimmers.

State Relays - 2023 Australian Age Championships, 9-15 April on the Gold Coast, QLD

7-9 April (MC events); 9-15 April (Able-bodied events)

Teams
Age Groups Freestyle Relays:
  • Girls 13‐17 years; Girls 13/14 years; Girls 15/16 years
  • Boys 14‐18 years; Boys 14/15 years; Boys 16/17 years
Medley Relays:
  • 2 x 13yr Girls/2 x 14yr Boys
  • 2 x 14yr Girls/2 x 15yr Boys
  • 2 x 15yr Girls/2 x 16yr Boys
  • 2 x 16yr Girls/2 x 17yr Boys
  • 2 x 17yr Girls/2 x 18yr Boys
Age is determined by the swimmer's age as at Friday 7th April, 2023
Events Day 3 Finals session – Sunday 9th April
  • 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay
  • Events 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49
Day 9 Finals session – Saturday 15th April
  • 4 x 50m Mixed Medley Relay
  • Events 204, 205, 206, 207, 208
Selection
  • The four (4) fastest swimmers available for each event based on times collected by the selection panel over the selection period
  • Selection will be based on performances at SNSW Championship and SNSW Officiated events from December 1st 2022, up to and including the day of the event
  • Team to be confirmed at the conclusion of the heat session on the day of the event (Day 3 & Day 9)

  • Jon Shaw (SNSW Coaching Director)
  • Chris Myers (SNSW Regional Coaching Director)
  • Impartial NSW Coach attending the Championships

Note: Swimming NSW may amend these selection guidelines at any time, at its discretion, and can make any necessary changes to the team.
