NSW off to a great start on night one of Australian SC Championships

An exciting first night of finals saw many NSW athletes take the opportunity to post some outstanding swims.

Leading the night off was Bradley Woodward (Mingara – Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach) and Joshua Hertz (SOPAC – Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach) in the Men’s 400m Freestyle. Bradley finished with a smart 3:45.77 claiming 4th spot with Joshua finishing in 8th place with a time of 3:50.00

In the Women’s 200m Backstroke Hayley Baker (Coach Shannon Rollason – ACT HUB) produced a sizzling swim to take the Gold Medal in a fast 2:04.64 – beating her entry time by 2.28 seconds! In the same race Claudia Neale (Knox Pymble – Coach Leanne Speechley) produced a 3.33 second PB to finish in 5th place in a time of 2:10.20. Claudia was followed by Emily Jones (Hunter – Coach Kerry Saunders) in 7th position (2:13.35) and Jessie Quinn (Coach Ryo Kito – Narrabeen Carlile) in 8th (2:15.86). All swims were faster than their entry time!

Another highlight of the evening was Meg Bailey (Hunter – Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach) winning the Women’s 400 IM in a very fast 4:29.17 dropping a massive 6.61 seconds off her entry time. Meg’s time was just outside the Australian Record…terrific swimming! Meg was supported by  teenagers Jacinta Essam (Ginninderra – Coach Shannon Rollason – ACT Hub) and Charli Brown (Manly SC – Coach Justin Rothwell). Both produced amazing swims with Jacinta picking up the Bronze medal in 4:36.64 and Charli coming in 4th with a time of 4:39.68.

Another great result for NSW swimmers was in the Men’s 50m Backstroke. Congratulations to both William Yang (Loreto Normanhurst – Coach Bobby Hurley) and Bradley Woodward (Mingara – Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach) who tied for the Gold medal in a quick 23.93. Also swimming was Shaye Booth (Mingara – Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach) and Edward Marks (Carlile – Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach). Shaye finished in 8th and Edward coming in 10th position.

Men’s 12 & O 200m IM – Matthew Levy (North Sydney – Coach Stephen Badger) Gold in a WR time of 2:34.02 – Congratulations Matthew! Coming in 8th place was Lachlan Hanratty (Revesby Workers – Coach Alex Clarke)

Women’s 12 & O 200m IM – Taylor Corry (Nelson Bay – Coach Tom Davis) Gold in a time of 2: 28.94. Taylor also picked up the Bronze medal in the 50m Freestyle 27.86

Men’s 200m Butterfly – Edward Marks (Carlile - Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach) 5th place – 1:56.44. Shaun Champion (Abbotsleigh – Coach Amanda Isaac) 10th place 2:00.81

Men’s 100m Freestyle – Joshua Hertz (SOPAC - Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS Hub Coach) 4th place 48.94. Myles Bailey (Ravenswood – Coach Mitch Falvey) 6th place 49.05. Andrew Newling (Ravenswood – Coach Mitch Falvey) 8th place 49.76.

Lachlan Hanratty (Revesby Workers – Coach Alex Clarke) picked up the Bronze Medal in the MC 50m Breaststroke in a time of 34.62.

In the Men’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Ravenswood picked up the Silver medal in a time of 3:16.69.
