Swimming NSW is pleased to announce that Matthew Brown has been appointed to the role of Head Coach (SOPAC).

Matthew will bring a wealth of coaching experience to the SOPAC Coaching Program, having led the creation of highly successful swimming programs at multiple centres over a career spanning 20 years.

Many Clubs go through ups and downs over time as athletes enter and leave the program and it is has been a testament to Matthew’s coaching ability and his strong focus on the pathway that the Trinity Grammar School Swimming program has been resistant to this and has performed consistently year after year. Matthew has coached multiple Swimmers onto Swimming Australia Junior teams and the results he achieved with Australian Dolphin Kenneth To have been well documented. Throughout his time at Trinity Grammar School, Matthew’s swimmers have amassed 55 National Age Gold Medals and numerous podium finishes. Matthew’s swimmers are known for their technical excellence and this is something he spends significant time on with his coaching team.

Swimming NSW was humbled to receive applications from an very strong field of candidates and it is a testament to Matthew’s achievements as a Coach that he was selected for this role. We remain mindful of providing coaching continuity at the SOPAC program and whilst Matthew is a new Coach to program, we are still working through the recruitment process for the other three roles. We expect to announce the appointment of these roles within the coming weeks.

We are very conscious of the challenges in transitioning Club coaches and we will continue to work with all stakeholders including swimmers in this process.

Matthew will commence with Swimming NSW as Head Coach (SOPAC) on the 6th January 2020.
