Changes to Swim League 2020

Swim League team cheering

The past couple of weeks has been a period of extraordinary and rapid change for our sport.

The government’s necessary response to the COVID-19 situation has temporarily put the brakes on all swimming competitions, swim club activity, squad training and Swimming NSW events. As such, we have made some changes to the upcoming Swim League 2020 season that was scheduled to commence on 9 and 10 May 2020.

Please note the following changes:

Swim League 2020 Series Leagues – Sydney Metro North, Sydney Metro South and Coast and Valley

The Series League will no longer be able to go ahead in its current format (regular weekly competition). These three leagues will now be scaled back to a gala day format. The dates and locations of these events are to be determined. However, we expect it will most likely be in September and October 2020 (dependant on current government advice, restrictions and venue availability).

Swim League 2020 Regional Gala Day Leagues – Kiama, Bathurst, Gungahlin, Lismore, Gunnedah

The gala days have all been postponed. We are currently working with each area’s swimming association and Club Support Officer to establish new dates, which are also likely to be in September and October 2020.

All current registrations will remain valid for the amended dates and formats*.

We share everyone’s disappointment with this delay in launching Swim League 2020. Our team had been working tirelessly to deliver this new expansion and format to hundreds of swimmers right across NSW.  Swimming NSW was tremendously excited to acquire Swim League and provide our members and swimmers with the opportunity to participate in this fast, fun, fresh and innovative program.

As there are no qualifying times or membership requirements, we hope that when swimming resumes later in the year, Swim League will be the perfect reintroduction for swimmers looking to get some much-needed competition and racing in a fun and friendly format.

We hope to see you all again in a few months and look forward to welcoming you to the Swim League movement. We will provide regular updates across all our digital and social communication networks. In the meantime, please stay safe, take care of yourselves and those you care about.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.

*REFUNDS / CREDITS

1. Participants who registered for a Swim League Series League (no Active Kids Voucher)

Your registration will remain valid for the amended gala day format. You will be provided with a partial refund (Partial Refund = original series costs minus the gala day registration costs).

2. Participants who registered for a Swim League Series League (with Active Kids Voucher)

Your registration will remain valid for the amended gala day format. NSW Government policy does not allow for a cash refund for Active Kids vouchers. Therefore, you will be provided with a partial credit (Partial Credit = original series costs minus the gala day registration costs) that can be used toward an eligible Swimming NSW program in the future.

Any participant who used an Active Kids voucher to purchase a Swim League Series League registration and who cannot participate with the rescheduled date/s can use the amount redeemed as credit for an eligible Swimming NSW program in the future.

Active Kids credit will be processed once new dates have been confirmed and will be valid to December 31st 2020 (subject to any NSW government changes to the Active Kids program and/or any on-going government restrictions in relation to health and safety.)

3. Participants who registered for a Regional Swim League Gala Day

Your registration will remain valid for the amended date.

NB: All refunds/credits will be processed once the new dates have been confirmed. At this time, we will provide participants who are unable to participate in the rescheduled events with instructions on how to apply for a refund/credit.
