Olympians, Paralympians and Commonwealth Games champions will take to the iconic Sydney Olympic Park pool this weekend for the 2019 NSW State Open Championships.

Marking their first competition since moving to Sydney, sisters Cate and Bronte Campbell will be squaring off in the 100m freestyle event on the first day of competition, followed by the 50m freestyle on day two ensuring an electrifying start to the meet.

Olympic gold medallist Kyle Chalmers will strive to gain race experience ahead of the 2019 Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming Championships in his home town of Adelaide, as he competes in three events. Chalmers will feature in the Men’s 100m Freestyle and 200m Butterfly on Friday and the Men’s 200m Freestyle on Saturday to round out his program.

Joining the trio in the star-studded line up will also be Olympians Mack Horton and Cameron McEvoy. Horton and McEvoy will compete in the Men’s 100m Freestyle on day one of competition, while they’ll also dive in for the Men’s 200m Freestyle on day two, heats and finish off with the Men’s 50m Freestyle on the final day of the meet.

Horton will also compete in his pet event – the Men’s 400m Freestyle – with these heats kicking off the Championships at 9:00am on Friday morning.

After claiming top honours in the first leg of the World Para Swimming Series last month in Melbourne, Ellie Cole and fellow Paralympian Blake Cochrane will also compete at the Open Championships – marking the last chance to race competitively before trying to qualify in Adelaide for the World Para Swimming Championships.
