Bio Island Australian JX Results Unveiled

01 May 2020

The official Bio Island Australian Junior Excellence results for the 2019-2020 season are here!

Swimming Australia is delighted to release the results of the program’s 13,656 participants, which recognises their performances, encourages their development and ultimately aims to inspire the next generation of competitive swimmers.

Delivered in conjunction with all states and territories, the national Bio Island Australian JX program – which awards gold, silver, bronze and blue standards based on times – continues to be one of the largest recognition programs in the sport.

With the end of the swimming season cut short due to Covid-19, each participant’s overall standard is based on every race they were able to swim throughout the 2019-2020 season – which officially concluded yesterday on 30 April, 2020.

Adelaide's Bio Island JX Clinic in Adelaide
Clinics were held throughout the year in each state to aid participants' skills.

Demonstrating their dedication, talent and hard work, a total of 2,036 young guns around the country received the top gold standard for their quick times in the pool, while 2,739 achieved silver, 3,272 qualified for bronze and 5,609 scored blue.

More than 7,500 girls achieved a standard time in the program compared to just over 6,000 boys, while New South Wales had the largest number of participants (4,965), with Queensland second (4,048) and Victoria third (2,404).

Australian Dolphin and Bio Island Australian JX ambassador, Jack McLoughlin, praised each junior swimmer on their wonderful results.

“Congratulations to every young swimmer who took part in the Bio Island Australian JX program this season,” he said.

“Whether you achieved gold, silver, bronze or blue, the most important thing is that you tried your best and had fun learning new skills with your friends.

“Also, while we can’t access pools at the moment, I urge you all to stay focused on your future goals and keep connected to your squad and club during this time.

“Congratulations again!”

Bio Island Director Amanda Fox echoed McLoughlin’s positive words of encouragement.

“Congratulations on your recent achievements and the dedication you have shown in the pool – the entire team at Bio Island wishes you all the best in your future swimming endeavours,” Fox said.

“Remember the first step to success is to have the courage to try, no matter the challenge in front of you. Well done!”

While every participant will receive a Bio Island Australian JX pack, the Covid-19 situation may impact the timing of production and distribution. However, please be assured Swimming Australia is working together with states and territories organisations and will communicate in due course via our website and social media channels when you can expect to receive them.
