Day 3: Woodward shines as Champion is up for the challenge:
On a day of fast swimming Bradley Woodward (Mingara – Coach Adam Kable – NSWIS HUB) claimed his second gold for the meet in winning the Men’s 100m Backstroke in 54.74.
In an eye-catching performance Shaun Champion (Abbotsleigh – Coach Amanda Isaac) put his competitors on notice in the 100m Butterfly. Shaun claimed the silver medal in a quick 51.28 to take 0.60 off his previous best time.
Other performances of note included Tane Bidois (Knox Pymble – Coach Nick Dobson) two silver medals in the Age races (M 19-20yrs). Tane achieved new PB’s in both the Men’s 50m Freestyle (22.67secs) and the Men’s 100m Backstroke (56.43secs) …some great swimming!
In the Multi-Class Championships once again Tim Hodge (ACU Blacktown – Coach Misha Payne) put the world on notice that he will be difficult to beat at the Paralympics. In his favourite event, the 200m IM Tim came within a whisker of taking down his own world record in winning the event in 2:12.74…a mere 0.68 off the record.
Jasmine Greenwood (Cruiz – Coach Marty Roberts – AIS) had a busy night winning the Womens 50m Backstroke in 33.37. She also picked up the bronze medal in the 100m Freestyle in 1:02.64.
