EVENT CANCELLATION:
Unfortunately with the current COVID-19 situation and extended lockdowns, it is with much regret that Swimming NSW has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s NSW Senior & Junior State Age SC Championships. Whilst the lockdown is currently due to end on the 28th of August, there is great uncertainty surrounding what restrictions will be in place if, and when, the lockdown is lifted, which make planning events with capacities we have at SOPAC, extremely difficult. In addition to this, the majority of our swimmers will have been out of the pool for some time, and therefore it would be irresponsible to allow competition immediately off the back of no training or preparation.
We understand the disappointment this will cause for our swimmers, especially after how hard they have worked following the interrupted 2020 season, but we must continue to comply with the orders from the NSW Government & NSW Health, to ensure our swimmers and their families health & safety is our upmost priority.
All those swimmers who were entered in the initial Senior & Junior events were refunded via the bulk refund, all of which should have been received by now. Entries were yet to open for the new combined event, so no refunds are required.
Our swimmers have shown incredible resilience throughout the past 18 months and we want to ensure everyone that this situation is only temporary and we will be back in the pool soon.
