NEW Teams Category

The team, which will be part of the JX 2.5km and the State Age 5km races, will allow clubs to enter a team of four swimmers, either male or female, competing in each of those open water events.  

At the conclusion of the race, the times of the four swimmers from each team will be combined, and the team with the fastest overall time will be declared the winner.

Event Information

  • Entry Fine Print
    • Entries for this meet will close at 11.59pm AEST, Tuesday 3rd December 2024
    • Long Course & Short Course times achieved since 1st October 2023 can be used to enter this meet.
    • An approved qualifying time must have been achieved, uploaded, approved and verified by the specified closing time and date of the meet
    • Individual Entries: $46.00
    • FOR 5KM & 2.5KM ENTRIES THAT WILL UTILISE POOL TIMES/SHORTER DISTANCES, A MANUAL ENTRY MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA ONLINE ENTRY FORM - the form must be received by the entry closing time of 11.59pm on Tuesday 3rd December 2024.
  • Teams Event
  • Swimming NSW is excited to announce a new Teams Category at the 2024 State Age Open Water Championships!  

    The team, which will be part of the JX 2.5km and the State Age 5km races, will allow clubs to enter a team of four swimmers, either male or female, competing in each of those open water events.  

    At the conclusion of the race, the times of the four swimmers from each team will be combined, and the team with the fastest overall time will be declared the winner. 

    This initiative aims to foster camaraderie and encourage swimmers to support and motivate their teammates to participate in open water events, all while competing for the title of fastest Open Water club. 

    Fine Print Entry Rules 

    • Team Swimmers must be members of the same SNSW affiliated club. 

    • Team nominations to be submitted by online form HERE by 5pm on 6th December 2024 

    • All team swimmers must be entered into the event via swim central or online manual entry form. 

    • Teams can consist of both male and female swimmers. 

    • JX2.5km event is for 11- 13year old swimmers, there will be one team event, and swimmers can be from 11, 12 or 13 year age groups. 

    • 5km event is for 13 - 18 & over swimmers, there will be one team event, and swimmers can be from 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18& over age groups.  

    • Clubs can enter a maximum of 3 teams per event (ie JX 2.5km or 5km) 

    • Swimmers can only be named in one team event 

    • In the event that a team member does not complete the event, the team for the purpose of the team event, will be recorded as DNF. 

    • Entry in the team event is free of charge.  

  • 10km Entries & Eligibility (Open, 17/18yrs)
  • Swimmers competing in the 2024 NSW Age and Open 10km Open Water Swimming Championships must have swum a 5km event within the qualifying time listed, at an approved 5km Open Water Swimming event since the 1st of October, 2023.

    OR
     

    Swimmers who have not swum a 10km qualifying time may enter the 10km event based on their time in the 5km, 800m freestyle or 1500m freestyle in accordance with the Pool Qualifying Procedure or a 2.5km Open Water event as per the qualifying grid. Times must have been achieved since 1st October 2023. Swimmers must be 14 years or over to enter an Open event as at 23rd January, 2025.

  • 7.5km Entries & Eligibility (15, 16 & 17yrs)
  • Swimmers competing in the 2024 NSW Age 7.5km Open Water Swimming Championships must have swum a 5km event within the qualifying time listed, at a Swimming New South Wales approved 5km Open Water Swimming event since the 1st of October, 2023.

    OR

    Swimmers mut have achieved the 5km pool qualifying time at an approved 5km time trial since the 1st of October, 2023.

    OR

    Swimmers who have not swum a 5km qualifying time may enter into the 7.5km event based on their time in the 800m freestyle or 1500m freestyle in accordance with the Pool Qualifying Procedure or a 2.5km Open Water event as per the qualifying grid. Times must have been achieved since 1st October 2023.

    Swimmers entered into the 7.5km events are not eligible to enter the 10km event as these will be swum at the same time.

  • 5km Entries & Eligibility (13yrs & Over)
  • Swimmers must have achieved the 5km qualifying times at a recognised 5km open water swimming event since the 1st October 2023.

    OR

    Swimmers have achieved the 5km pool qualifying time at an approved 5km time trial since the 1st October 2023.

    OR

    Swimmers who have not swum a 5km qualifying time may enter into the 5km event based on their time in the 800m or 1500m freestyle in accordance with the Pool Qualifying Procedure or a 2.5km Open Water event as per the qualifying grid. Swimmers must be 14 years or over to enter an Open Age event as at 23rd January, 2024.

  • 2.5km Entries & Eligibility (11-13 Yrs)
  • Swimmers aged 11 ‐ 13 years of age as at 14th December, 2024 that have achieved the JX Qualification
    standards since 1st October, 2023 in either of the Blue, Bronze, Silver and Gold pool standards.
