Event Details

In a first for Australian swimming due to the impacts of COVID-19, the 2020 Australian short course swimming event will be delivered virtually. Swum as four session of timed finals the virtual competition will take place in Brisbane (Chandler), Sydney (Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre), Hobart (Hobart Aquatic Centre), Perth (HBF Stadium) and Melbourne (MSAC subject to COVID restrictions).

Combined results outlining the finish times and overall rankings can be viewed here via the live results tile, event results will be available 10 minutes after the event has been swum in all locations. 

Individual location results won't be available via Meet Mobile, instead swimmers can view their split and reaction times at the venue. Following the conclusion of each session the full results will be available here via the full results tile. 

Unfortunately this event will not be livestreamed, you can follow all the action on the Swimming Australia social channels throughout the weekend.

TICKETING 

Brisbane

Entry to this event is free, tickets are available on the day and cannot be booked in advance. All attendees must check in using their mobile device for contact tracing purposes. All seating is in the western stand, ushers will assist you to ensure social distancing in line with the COVID safety plan. 

Sydney

Swimmers 17 and under will be provided with one chaperone pass. Chaperone passes will be available with athlete accreditation at the event entrance. Individuals using the chaperone pass must check in using their mobile device for contact tracing purposes. Please note chaperone passes cannot be re-printed onsite if lost or misplaced. 

In line with the COVID safety plan 100 spectator tickets will be available each day. Tickets are free of charge and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Melbourne

To adhere to the COVID safety plan, there will be no spectators at this event. Swimmers 17 and under will be provided with one chaperone pass. Individuals using the chaperone pass must check in using their mobile device for contact tracing purposes.

Perth

Spectators are permitted at this event. Tickets will be available at the door, all seating will be in the main grandstand. 

Hobart

Spectators are permitted at this event, subject to capacity limits. Entry is free, however a ticket must be 'purchased' in Swim Central for contact tracing purposes. 

ACCREDITATION

Accreditation applications are now closed. For late applications please contact Swimming Australia: events@swimming.org.au. Coaches, support staff and team managers wishing to access the competition venues must apply for accreditation in advance of the meet.

Accreditation can be collected from the event entry in all locations.

HANCOCK PROSPECTING VIRTUAL PRIZE MONEY

  • Hancock Prospecting Virtual Prize Money Pool
  • A once off pool of prize money will be made available for all swimmers competing in the 2020 Hancock Prospecting Australian Virtual Short Course. This prize money rewards important performances during a time where standard competition opportunities have been reduced due to the pandemic.
