And that’s a wrap on what was a fantastic week of learning and networking opportunities for coaches and swim teachers alike at the annual asctaNSW Swim Coaches and Teachers Conference.

The conference week kicked off on the 12th of September with a presentation by renowned Biomechanist, Ryan Hodierne, at the NSW Institute of Sport.

On Saturday the 15th of September, coaches gathered at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to take part on a Stroke Training session, which was followed by a new learning module from the Gold/Silver Licence course “Coaching in a Performance Environment”. 26 aspiring coaches – a great turnout - took part in a Bronze Licence course on Saturday as well.

The main event, the asctaNSW Conference itself, was held at Pymble Ladies College on Sunday 16th September. The day started off on a high with a presentation lead by guest speaker, the remarkable Laurie Lawrence.

Coaches were treated to an opportunity to ask questions of a great panel of Australian coaches featuring Shannon Rollason, Adam Kable and Justin Rothwell.

asctaNSW Directors then lead coaches through an informative and practical presentation on session writing and seasonal planning.

Meanwhile, the Teaching stream learned practical skills from John Bladon, and attended a presentation lead by Wendy Ross on working with swimmers with a disability.

Conference attendees were able to visit several trade stalls throughout the day and made useful contacts to help with their business and pool needs into the future.

The exciting week was wrapped up on 19th September with a presentation from Physiologist, Stephen Crowcroft at the NSW Institute of Sport.

asctaNSW thanks all 200 conference attendees, presenters, partners, trade stalls and Directors who made conference week 2018 truly one to remember!
