Mighty Blues touch down in Hawaii

Our Mighty Blues have touched down in Hawaii ahead of the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, set to take place in Honolulu from 24-27 August.

Eight NSW athletes were selected on to the Australian Junior Dolphins Team in May following performances at the 2022 Australian Age and Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide: 

  • Bella Grant (Trinity Grammar)
  • Isabella Johnson (SOPAC)
  • Olivia Wunsch (Carlile)
  • Haig Buckingham (SOPAC)
  • Marcus Da Silva (City of Sydney)
  • Alistair Gorgijiovski (Wests Illawarra Aquatic)
  • Daniel McLoughlin (Kincumber Pacific Dolphins)
  • Jamie Mooney (Wagga Wagga)

The Junior Dolphins Team of 32 athletes will be lead by world-class coaches, including Trinity Grammar's Ben Tuxford, City of Sydney's Rebecca Wheatley, and Carlile's Michaela Pattinson.

NSW athletes at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Hawaii

Swimmers aged 13-18 as of December 31st of the competition year are eligible to compete at the Junior Pan Pacs.

These Championships provide elite international competition experience for junior athletes. The Pan Pacific Nations of Australia, the USA, Canada, and Japan have all selected extremely competitive teams for the Championships, and it promises to be an outstanding meet with many historic performances expected.

This tour provides athletes, coaches, and team staff with the opportunity to learn, develop and hone the skills required in the National team environment to successfully transition onto the senior team.
